Where does data for import come from?
•Telephone Fundraising refers to companies who engage in telemarketing and telephone fundraising on behalf of a charity, they acquire new donors and can solicit new pledges. In addition, they can also solicit to have existing pledges upgraded. These companies will then supply the charity with a list and the donor’s details for importation into thankQ.
•Face to Face Fundraising is an activity carried out by a person, Corporation or Organisation, for the purpose of raising funds for a charity by asking potential Donors to make a pledge. This activity is conducted in places or venues open to members of the public. It can be conducted by people who either receive remuneration or who are volunteers. The donor information will later need to be imported into thankQ.
•Donor List Acquisition refers to the buying or exchanging of lists of existing or potential donors. Through direct marketing companies, lists can be purchased and used for mailing and phone campaigns. These lists can be pre-segmented into demographic groups such as the donor’s age, gender, occupation or income range. Acquisition lists normally can only be used for a limited number of times as part of the purchase agreement. Typically lists cannot be imported into thankQ until a person on the list donates to your organisation.
•Data Cleaning refers to the process of sending your data to a company who will update your addressing. It is generally recommended if you are getting a lot of mail ‘returned to sender’ and marked as ‘address unknown’. In this case you will need to first export your own data and send it to the data cleaning company. You will then need to re-import the cleaned data into thankQ.
•System Transfer when importing data from another system such as contacts and payment history
Each of the above sources will result in the generation of an Excel spreadsheet that contains data that needs to be imported into thankQ.
