Moves Rules Administrator is an analysis tool to group contacts by certain criteria. Once contacts are grouped, targeted mailings can be sent out to the donors in each layer.
The analysis is not limited to just donations, Rules can be created by using criteria from contact’s Profiles and other information contained in their record.
For example, you can search on Skills to see if they have done a First Aid course and then move up a layer to see if they have done a CPR course.
Before setting up Moves Rules, thought is required to go into the layer of rules so they do not overlap. The Rules are run from Rule 1 upwards.
If contacts meet rule criteria 1 they are flagged, if they then meet rule criteria 2 they are moved up from layer 1 to layer 2. If they meet rule criteria 3 they are moved up again.
If a contact only meets rule criteria 1 and none of the other rule layers they remain at layer 1.
The outcome can be found under the Moves tab on the Contacts form. The analysis of the Moves Rule can be found in the Moves Latest section. Any change in the outcome after the analysis is run again can be found in the Moves History section.
The idea of the Moves Rules Administrator is to push contacts up the pyramid. This is accomplished by way of appropriate marketing methods.
Find out more about your donors. People give for different reasons and respond to different marketing methods. Profiles are a good way of capturing information.
Example of layers:
The higher up the pyramid the more important the contact and there will be fewer people.
Moves Rules Administrator is a great tool to keep an eye on contacts to see if they are moving up or down the pyramid.
An analysis should be run on a regular basis either monthly or weekly so the results are consistent. Either run on the first of the month or on the first working day of the week.
Explanation of Layers:
•John satisfies layer 1 but not layer 2 and 3. He did satisfy layer 4 but not layer 5 and 6. John therefore is a Silver Donor.
•Samantha only satisfies layer 2 so is therefore a Pewter Donor
•Mary satisfies layer 1 and 6 and is therefore a Platinum Donor
•Daniel satisfies layer 1 and 5 and is therefore a Gold Donor
•David only satisfies layer 3 and is therefore a Bronze Donor

Do not exclude a previous rule when creating the next layer as this may remove a contact who may meet the criteria of another layer higher up |
