5 Tue 20 June What is big data and why should I care? (KPMG)

Session IV Internet of Things
- What can connectivity unlock?
In the fourth session of our Women’s Technology and Business Program which is organised by AustCham’s Women in Business Network, Craig Price from PCCW will run you through about Internet of Things.
Every product you buy today is IP enabled and every smart phone or device seems to have a multitude of sensors e.g. Android supports 14 different sensors. Why are these sensors now available? What is the information being used for? What new services and products are emerging? What has this got to do with Internet of Things (“IoT”), Smart Cities and Big Data? Why is this important for my business and future business opportunities?
Craig will provide you:
- An understanding of the terms IoT, what Smart means and Big Data;
- A discussion on what the increasing connectivity of everything can mean for new product developments and new business models; and
- Understanding of smart cities and smart services, and what this could mean for your business/industry.
