Site Visit to Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station
     Wednesday 27 June 2018

Guangdong Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station (Daya Bay) is the first nuclear power station of commercial sale to be built in the mainland China.

Daya Bay makes use of French reactor technology and British turbine-generator equipment, providing an installed capacity of 1,968 MW. Since the beginning of commercial operation in 1994, it has been generating typically over 14 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity a year. 70% of the electricity is supplied to Hong Kong and the balance to Guangdong province.

The electricity produced by Daya Bay saves Hong Kong each year some 7.5 million tonnes of carbon dioxide, some ten thousand tonnes of sulphur dioxide, and nitrogen oxides, as well as hundreds of tonnes of airborne particulates that would otherwise be released into the atmosphere by fossil fuel generation.

It’s a rare opportunity to visit Daya Bay facility. Seats are strictly limited.
