It is important that members of RSPCA ACT are aware of the Society’s policies and positions on animal welfare and that they uphold RSPCA values.

Under our Constitution a person is eligible to apply for Membership of the Society only if he or she has not been convicted for an offence for cruelty to an animal.

For these reasons, by applying for membership you declare that you have never been convicted for an offence under the Animal Welfare Act 1992 (ACT) or any legislation from the Commonwealth or any State or Territory of Australia relating to the welfare of animals.

Under our Constitution members have responsibilities to use their best endeavours to:

• further the Objects of the Society;
• promote the interests of the Society;
• avoid any direct or indirect conflict with the interests of the Society; and
• comply with this Constitution, the Bylaws and any policies of the Society as amended from time to time.

For these reasons if you are now, or have you ever been a member, employee, owner, manager or director of any group, club, organisation, business entity or association that has had any involvement with animals or animal related activities please email RSPCA ACT at rspca@rspca-act.org.au to discuss the matter further before proceeding to apply for membership.

I, declare that all information given with this application is true and correct. If any relevant information is withheld, misrepresented or false, I recognise RSPCA ACT Board's right to require me to show cause as to why my application should not be rejected. Should I be granted membership and my application is subsequently discovered to contain misleading, incomplete or false information, or information that renders me ineligible for membership or incapable of complying with member responsibilities, the Board has the right to terminate my membership forthwith. I further recognise the Board's right to terminate my membership should I not uphold the Society’s policies and positions on animal welfare.
